We had the kids for a few days for Easter and it was also Daniella's birthday, she wanted a sewing machine so we got her a mini one with some material and a dress patturn. On Friday night we set about making her a dress and I ended up staying up most of the night to get it finished for her. It reminded me of a time when I was living in Doncaster and I got it into my head that I could make a dress for myself. I phoned Mum for help cos I remember when she used to make us clothes when we were kids. She got a taxi and came over and we spent the whole night making a dress out of really cheap material as a practice. It was one of the funniest nights of my life. I left Mum cutting out the pattern while I went to make us a drink, I said, dont cut that bit because we were trying to make the dress longer in the body to fit me. When I came back Mum had forgotten what i'd said and cut the dress completely in half. We laughed so much we were in agony. We remembered that night and often talked about it. Making that dress at the weekend reminded me and I had a little giggle to myself and shed a little tear. Everything I do brings back a memory of you Mum. We have had many nights of fun and silliness but I think this was the funniest. I still have the dress although I have never worn it but I will always have the memories and I cherish them all.
